I’ve noticed something this year. Every time an interior design magazine arrives in the mail, there it is again…
That tree in the corner. It’s a Fiddle Leaf Fig. And it’s everywhere. Usually near the window…
Sometimes there’s not just one but two…
Occasionally, they are monstrous…
So my question is, is there some conspiracy going on here? Maybe a botanical PR/lobbyist type at work behind the scenes trying to get this tree more press?
Is this the “It” plant of 2011? Or is every shelter mag’s set stylist just a little heavy handed with this plant?
About 2 years ago, a very stylish and hip friend of mine asked that I keep an eye out on for the fiddle leaf fig on my trips to the green houses.
Who knew (except her) that years later it would be such a hip plant…?
she’s a woman before her time. hey, i bet if i looked through the rest of my magazines from this year and not just the ones on top, i could find more of those trees.
She’s a web designer and an actress at the theater. She found her Fig at Pechkam’s a year or so ago…
